Prohibited Street Permits

Prohibited Street permits are only available for essential business, and they are issued for the prohibited streets in town before 10am or after 6pm only, except in emergencies or exceptional circumstances. Temporary permits can be requested by telephone, or application forms are available for disc permits, which are valid for two year, for those businesses who have reasonable cause for regular access (loading/unloading, removal companies etc). The following streets are prohibited to traffic except by permit:

  • The High Street (6pm-10am).
  • Smith Street (6pm-10am).  No permit required between 6pm and 10am if unloading.
  • The Pollet (6pm-10am).  Prohibited from La Plaiderie (Moores Hotel).
  • Mansell Street (6pm-10am).
  • Mill Street (6pm-10am).
  • The Strand.
  • La Ruette des Cotils.
  • Rue des Freres.
  • Fermaine Lane.  Prohibited to motorcycles, and prohibited to motor vehicles from Le Chalet Hotel to the coast.
  • North Plantation.  The street between North Esplanade and La Tourgand is prohibited to all traffic overnight, between 7pm and 6am, except by permit.  During the day, from 6am to 7pm, vehicles are only permitted to enter for access to off-street parking, un/loading, and access for disabled badge holders to the disabled bay only.
  • High Street via Berthelot Street.
